Drinks

Every drink follows the same rules:

  • It gives one buff and one level of Tipsy. A drink that takes you to Tipsy IV or higher gives no buff at all: you’re too drunk to enjoy it.
  • You can always drink it, even when you’re full. It takes 1.6 s, and you get the empty Mug or Wine Glass back.
  • It stacks to 16.
  • A young drink’s buff is level I for 3 min. The aged version has a deeper colour, shimmers like an enchanted item, and its buff is level II for 5 min. Wheat beer’s Saturation works at once instead: a few food points.
  • Put down on a table, an aged drink shimmers like an enchanted item, so you can tell it from a young one at a glance.

Every drink has its own colour: you see it in the barrel’s sight glass and in the mugs and glasses on a table. Aged drinks are a shade deeper.

Saturation works differently from the other buffs: it doesn’t last, each tick of it fills one hunger point (and some saturation) right away. That’s why wheat beer shows food points instead of a time.

Farmer’s Delight’s own bottles ferment too. Its apple cider becomes the same Hard Cider as our Apple Juice, and its melon juice becomes Melon Wine, which you can only make with FD installed (the item always exists). See Farmer’s Delight.

Mugs and glasses on a block

Wine goes in a Wine Glass; beer, cider and mead in a Mug. Both stack to 64.

Set them down: sneak and right-click the top of a block with a mug or glass, full or empty, to put it there. Up to four share one block, each keeping its own drink, and you can see the drink through the glass. Right-click with an empty hand to pick one back up.

How much do you need for a round? The planner in Building a cellar works out the crops, kettle batches, buckets, barrels and waiting time for any number of servings.

When two or more players finish a drink within 3 seconds and 5 blocks of each other, glasses clink, a few sparkles go up, and everyone’s buff from that drink lasts 20% longer.

It only counts between players in the same world, once per drink, and your own two drinks don’t make a round. The bonus is 20% of that drink’s full buff time, added to what’s left; if the buff has just run out, you get it back for that long.

  • Too many? The drink that takes you to Tipsy IV gives no buff, and it also takes away the buffs your earlier drinks gave you. Effects from potions stay.
  • Tables: a drink goes on the quarter of the block you aim at, or the nearest free one, and only on a sturdy top. An empty-hand right-click picks up the one you aim at; holding something, you use that item as usual, so you can drink at the table. Breaking the block, a piston or losing the block underneath drops them all.
  • Drinks as ingredients (in Farmer’s Delight’s cooking pot) give you the mug or glass back.
  • Full stomach? It doesn’t matter: you can always drink.
