Taverns

Every village type, from plains to snowy, can have a tavern built in its own style. You’ll find one in about one village in three, and now and then a village has two.

Look for the hanging sign over the door, the terrace on the street with tables of drinks, the barrel stack under the eaves and the smoke rising from the chimney. Inside there is a bar with the kettle on its campfire and shelves of mugs and glasses, a table by the fire, and a low stone cellar of casks behind the bar.

Its barrels are already full: walk in, grab a mug or glass, and tap a drink. Two of them are aged. The tavern chest holds seeds, mugs and glasses, and a few drinks of the region, everything you need to start brewing yourself.

Plains: oak and cobblestone like the village houses, a gable over the door, a vine pergola on the terrace.

Desert: sandstone with a flat roof, stairs up to a roof terrace and a lookout over the door.

Savanna: acacia and terracotta under a low hipped roof.

Snowy: spruce and snow, a diorite plinth and a bar counter of packed ice.

Taiga: a log lodge with its gable to the street, log ends up the roof, jack o'lanterns at the door.

Behind the bar: the kettle on its campfire, a rack of casks, shelves of mugs and glasses.

The cellar behind the bar: casks racked and stacked under a stone vault, a lantern hung from it.

Good to know

Tavern barrels are already past fermenting, so they can’t be topped up. Tap one empty and fill it with your own brew: an aged drink from a barrel you filled yourself is what earns Patience Pays.
The young tavern barrels keep aging like any barrel, so a tavern you leave alone for a few days ends up with more aged drinks.

Village farms

Village farms grow our crops alongside the vanilla ones, depending on the climate: red grapes where it’s warm, white grapes in plains and taiga villages, hops where it’s cool, barley nearly everywhere.
