Cooking Pot

The
Cooking Pot is the heart of your kitchen. Put in up to 6 ingredients, set the
pot on something hot, and it cooks them into a meal. The servings wait inside until you scoop them out, usually with a
Bowl. Most of the 28 pot recipes take 10 seconds, and the pot holds up to
64 servings at once.

Cooking a meal
Section titled “Cooking a meal”- Fill it. Right-click the pot to open it and put the ingredients in, in any order. Use exactly what the recipe asks for: one extra item in a slot and nothing cooks.
- Heat it. The pot needs something hot right below it, like a lit campfire or a
Stove, or two blocks
below with a
Hopper in between. See heat sources. - Wait. The arrow fills while the pot is hot. Most meals take 10 seconds; a few take 5 or 20 seconds.
- Serve it. Each finished meal uses one of every ingredient and lands in the meal slot. Scoop it out with its container (next section).

If the heat goes out, you don’t lose the meal. The arrow drains back twice as fast as it filled, and picks up again as soon as the heat is back. A short gap only costs a few seconds:
Serving
Section titled “Serving”The easy way: hold the meal’s container and right-click the pot. One serving goes straight into your inventory, no screen needed. You can also put a stack of containers in the container slot and take finished meals out of the output slot.

Each meal needs its own container, usually the one you get back after eating it. Meals that need none go straight to the output slot.

The meal slot holds up to 64 servings, even of meals that only stack to 16. It holds one kind of meal at a time: to cook something else, empty it first.
Automation
Section titled “Automation”One column of heat source, hopper and pot is a complete automatic kitchen. The hopper under the pot passes the heat up and pulls finished meals out at the same time. Add a hopper on top to feed ingredients and one on the side to feed bowls.

A comparator next to the pot reads how full it is: the more items in its 9 slots, the stronger the signal, from 1 up to 15.
Recipes
Section titled “Recipes”A few examples: a plain meal, a quick sauce, a bottled drink, a feast that needs a pumpkin, a snack with no container and a vanilla soup. Every recipe is in the recipe reference.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Breaking the pot keeps the meal. The servings in the meal slot stay inside the pot item, so you can pick up a pot of stew and set it down somewhere else. Everything in the other slots drops. An explosion can destroy the pot, servings and all.
- Experience. Each meal is worth 0.35 to 2 experience. You only collect it when you take meals out of the output slot by hand, or when you break the pot. Scooping with a right-click or a hopper leaves it stored in the pot until then.
- Containers come back. Ingredients that leave something behind in a crafting table, such as a bucket of milk, give
it back here too, popped out of the side of the pot. The same goes for

Glass Bottle. - Serving from the item. A pot item that holds a meal can be crafted with one matching container. You get one meal and the pot back with one serving fewer.
- Hanging pot. Place the pot against the underside of a block and it hangs by its handle. Sneak and right-click with an empty hand to switch between hanging and standing. On fire, lava or a campfire it stands on a small tray instead. Heat works the same either way.
- Recipe book. The pot’s screen has a recipe book. You can turn it off in the config.
